The 2024 Victorian Highland State Show was held in conjunction with the Bendigo Agricultural Show, from Friday 24 to Saturday 25 October.
ive folds were represented this year – Bairnsley, Cambus Glen, Jazala, MacAnLeister and Russllyn. This was a couple down from last year – but there were still 19 animals on display, by far the largest breed contingent at the show.
Exhibitors arrived on Friday and got straight into show preparation – washing, blowing and grooming, in a mad rush for some of the juniors to take part in the Paraders competitions. As is tradition, once Friday’s programme was completed, exhibitors and breeders group made their way to the Bendigo RSL for the dinner, popping out at 9pm to watch the Bendigo Show firework display. After checking and watering the cattle, it was time for bed before the big day.
This year it was a battle of the juniors, with Grand Champion Highland Bull being awarded to the Junior Champion Clifford Arrow of MacAnLeister and Grand Champion Highland Female going to the Junior Champion Jeelie Bean of Cambus Glen. Supreme Highland Exhibit went to the Grand Champion Female, and youngest exhibit, Jeelie Bean of Cambus Glen.
